After upsetting Minnesota in a wild-card matchup, the New York Giants (10-7-1 SU, 14-4 ATS) look to pull off an even bigger stunner this week when they visit the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles (14-3, 8-9) in the divisional round.

Philly opened as a 7-point favorite and has won 11 of the last 13 meetings between the NFC East rivals, including a 48-22 rout last month in New York and a 22-16 victory in Week 18. However, the G-Men are at their most dangerous as an underdog, covering 11 of their last 13 games when catching points.

Although the Giants haven’t won consecutive games since November, they’re the NFL’s hottest team according to bettors. New York covered the spread for the seventh time in its last eight games on Sunday, defeating the Vikings 31-24 for the franchise’s first playoff victory in 11 years.

Daniel Jones threw for over 300 yards against Minnesota and added 78 more on the ground, setting a Giants franchise record for rushing yards by a quarterback in the playoffs. Saquon Barkley was also a lethal dual threat, rushing for 53 yards and two scores while adding five catches for 56 yards.

Philly’s star quarterback skipped a day of throwing drills last week as he continues to recover from a sprained right shoulder, although he resumed throwing activities the following day.

After starting the season with a 13-1 SU record, the Eagles lost both games that Hurts sat out due to the injury, then failed to cover the spread when a less than 100 percent Hurts suited up in the regular-season finale against the Giants. Going back to the game in Chicago when he was injured, Philly is 0-4 ATS in its last four outings.

In order to cover the spread and have a chance at the outright victory, New York has to be able to slow down a Philly run game that averaged nearly 150 yards per contest this season. The easiest way to do that might be running the ball themselves and keeping the Eagles offense off the field, so don’t be surprised if we see big rushing performances from Jones and Barkley once again.

New York will also need to put up points to win in Philly, where the Eagles have gone OVER the total in 11 of their last 14 games. Fortunately for the Giants, their offense is playing its best football in years, scoring 30-plus in two of its last three games after failing to crack the 30-point plateau in any of its previous 43 contests.

Philadelphia’s ground-based attack matches up well against a New York defense that was 27th in the NFL against the run this year, allowing an average of 144.2 rushing yards per game. If Hurts is fully healthy, it’ll make things that much more difficult for New York, since Philly’s MVP candidate can also beat them through the air.

Other advantages that could pay off for the Eagles include the rest their players got during their bye last week and the fact that this game is in Philadelphia, where the Eagles are 5-0 SU all-time in the divisional round. Philly has also won each of the last nine meetings with the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field, with those victories coming by an average of 10.2 points per game.
