The co-main event for UFC 198 – possibly the biggest card card in Brazil’s history – will feature a middleweight bout with massive title implications. Submission specialist Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza will square off against knockout artist Vitor Belfort with the Sportsbook in prime position to get a shot at the 185 lbs title.
Jacare opened as a massive -305 favorite for the fight with Belfort coming back at +235 at Sportsbook.
Jarace holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and it shows when you look at his record with 16 of his 22 career victories coming via submission. His combination of submission and wrestling abilities is basically unparalleled in the division. Souza enters this fight coming off a controversial loss to Yoel Romero, but a victory here would make him 6-1 since joining the UFC against some difficult opposition.
Belfort has been a KO machine since entering the Octagon in 1997 (yes, you read that right). Over the years the technical game has developed for Belfort, but his reaction speed and power is what makes his striking game so deadly. ‘The Phenom’ is largely a counter-puncher though and will rarely initiate the attack himself. Belfort is a black belt in BJJ as well, but he has next to zero interest in being on the mat.
