We are getting ever closer to the return of the UFC’s biggest star, Conor “Notorious” McGregor, as he is set to stand toe to toe with fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. McGregor hasn’t been in competition since his lightweight title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018 but will headline UFC 246 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on January 18. The Irishman is a -325 favorite in this bout with Cowboy coming back at +250.
If you’re unsure of how this fight will play out or are looking for more options than picking who will win this scrap straight up, online sportsbook Sportsbook has released a variety of prop specials that you can wager on. Those props are listed below along with a couple of options that I really like.
Be sure to check out my preview and picks for each fight on UFC 246’s main card and if you’re unsure how to bet on this mega fight, we at Odds Shark have you covered with our how-to article.
Also, for reasonings on how each fighter will win this fight, I have broken down the three reasons why Cerrone will win, while Iain McMillan has provided his three reasons why McGregor will win.
McGregor vs Cerrone Prop Picks
The first prop I like for this bout is for the fight to complete two full rounds at +130. It seems that everyone and their dogs are betting on McGregor to win via first-round knockout. I don’t see this fight playing out that way at all. Since moving up from featherweight, Notorious has finished only one of his four opponents, Eddie Alvarez, and that came in the second round in a dominant victory. I think McGregor will want to knock some rust off and show off his conditioning, perhaps in a championship round finish.
The second prop I like is “Will Floyd Mayweather be in attendance” with Yes at +160 and No at -200. I think Floyd will be in attendance; he is a fan of McGregor and of course the two put on a gigantic boxing match in 2017, and Mayweather has a “handshake agreement” with UFC president Dana White for a crossover promotion later in 2020. Expect the 50-0 boxer, arguably the greatest of all time, to be in attendance and for us to cash in a +160 bet.
