Cameron Brink's Stanford Cardinal featured in our West Region odds for women's march madness

WNCAAB March Madness West Region Odds & Picks: Stanford Is Prepared

The Texas Longhorns head into Women's March Madness as +140 favorites in the West Region odds, sitting ahead of Stanford (+170) by just a smidge.

Texas will face Gonzaga while Stanford meets NC State in the upcoming Sweet Sixteen.

I'm going against the grain in the 2024 March Madness West Region odds. There's no denying the Longhorns had an easier route in the Big 12 conference, ending up as the No. 1 seed.

I have touched on the freshman talent in the East and Midwest, well it carries over in the West Region, too. Texas' Madison Booker took a leap forward to step up after Rori Harmon's, Big 12 preseason player of the year, season-ending injury. The freshman has been the highest point scorer in 15 of the 22 games that followed after Harmon's absence.

But, in a glance at my Women's March Madness bracket you'll see all my allegiance rests with Stanford in Cameron Brink's final season.

Rebounds and defense -- it'll keep your opponents off the board and ensure you capitalize on every scoring opportunity available. The Cardinal ladies have both.

At 6-foot-4, Brink patrols the mesh by ranking third in the nation by averaging 12 rebounds per game. Her teammate Kiki Iriafen, standing tall as 6-foot-3, is a notch off by snagging 11 rebounds on average (ranked 10th). Both girls are some of the most precise shooters in the tournament, posting FG% of 51% or higher.

Not only does Tara VanDerveer's Cardinal protect their nest, allowing opponents just 59.2 PPG. The group also sinks a noble 77.5 PPG in a competitive Pac-12 conference where three other programs allow 61 points or fewer. It's been a battle for wins all season, but this bench is more than prepared to continue the fight.
