KSI vs Fournier Preview
KSI, aka “The Nightmare,” has had a lot of similarities with fellow YouTuber Jake Paul who recently had his first match with a pro boxer in Tommy Fury. Paul lost that bout via split decision so this is an opportunity for The Nightmare to stake his claim as the best celebrity boxer in the world.
From a competition standpoint, KSI has some fairly good head movement and good reaction time. He’s diligent with his stabbing jab from long range, but at times can leave it long opening up windows to be countered. His right hand is very loopy, though, possesses a good amount of power.
Fournier’s Power Could Be The Difference Maker
Not only does Joe "The Badass Billinaire" Fournier have experience on his side, nine professional bouts to KSI’s one, but each of those fights were stopped inside the distance. The nightclub owner also had an eight-round exhibition with former two division world champion David Haye that went the distance last September.
The 40-year-old doesn’t have a ton of setup to his game, typically standing fairly upright, constantly inching forward and throwing big punches when in range. Those punches, albeit slow, have fairly good accuracy and when they land, certainly get the attention of his foes.
KSI vs Fournier Pick
The odds for this fight feel about right, perhaps KSI is a little overvalued based on experience and previous boxing history between the two men. The YouTuber should have a noticeable speed advantage but his looping style could get him in trouble at times throughout this fight as power will be waiting to capitalize on the over-extended punches.
Ultimately, though, the volume and pace that KSI puts out should work well with the judges en route to a decision win.
