Benjamin Eckstein’s Riding Rule

LAS VEGAS — LET IT RIDE, BABY!!!

Actually one of my favorite poker games at bricks-and-mortar casinos, and now online. This is another paytable game where you are just looking to make your best hand and NOT playing against the dealer.

You put down three bets of equal value and the dealer gives you three cards. You take a look, and if you’re thinking, MEH, you can take back one of your bets. If you’re thinking HELL YEAH, then you LET IT RIDE! Then the dealer turns over a card, and once again, you have an option to take back a bet or let it ride. The dealer turns his second card, and depending on the hand, you’re probably a Sportsbook. It just depends how much.

You gotta have at least a pair of 10s or better, which is even money. Two pairs brings back 2/1, three of a kind is 3/1, a straight is 5/1, a flush is 8/1, a full house is 11/1, four of a kind is 50/1, a straight flush is 200/1 and a ROYAL with cheese is 1,000/1. Just so you know, I ALWAYS LET IT RIDE!!!

DRINKS ON ME!!!

If anyone reading this is in New York City, specifically Brooklyn, my guy, Michael Nielsen, owner of Finn’s Corner, is having a grand reSportsbook at 660 Washington Ave. It’s on Thursday and the Doctor, Dwight Gooden, is gonna make a house call.

Not sure how much Doc is charging to sign, but anyone who reads this and tells my man Nielsen that Eckstein is the GREATEST writer they’ve ever read gets a FREE shot on ME!!! Giving away 25 FREEBIES. After that, you’re still FREE if you can name the make and model of my first car, and my mother’s maiden name. Good luck!!!

HOOPIN’ IT UP!!!

Not gonna throw down on the Sportsbook night of the NBA, but there is a delicious Ben Simmons prop bet floating around. Everyone knows that Simmons has had issues shooting the ball, so there is now an OVER/UNDER total on how many games Ben will play before hitting a three-pointer. The O/U is 22.5 games and we’re thinking about riding with the OVER.

SportsbookS ONLY!!!

Another column, another Sportsbook. That pushes the current streak to 10-0. Yeah, TEN & OH, BAABBBEEE!!! We’re thinking about throwing down on the National League Championship Series tonight.

First, a few facts. The Phillies came out on top in the season series 4-3. Yu Darvish gets the ball for San Diego and in two starts against the Phils this season, he has one win, pitched 13 innings, allowed three earned runs (2.08 ERA) and posted 14 Ks. Zack Wheeler had just one start against the Padres and it was a beauty. He went seven innings, all bagels, and posted 9 Ks.

Both teams come in sky-high after glorious wins in the LDS so we’re gonna call that even. The only real edge we can see is at the back end of the bullpen. The Phillies don’t have a traditional closer, while San Diego has Josh Hader.

If you just looked at his regular-season numbers (5.22 ERA), you would be scratching your head because they were ugly. But if you dig a little deeper and look at his playoffs numbers, WOW! In four outings against the Mets and Dodgers, his ERA was, you ready, ZERO POINT ZERO ZERO! Gonna pass on picking the Sportsbook of tonight’s game, but will throw out a tasty prop bet.

And it’s how many runs will be scored in the first inning. We’re gonna go OVER 2.5 runs scored at 10/1 odds.
