The Match 7 Odds

The Match Odds: Thomas-Spieth Favored Over Woods-McIlroy

The seventh edition of The Match is set and we’re turning back to the biggest names in golf for this rendition.

After The Match 6 featured top NFL quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, golf stars Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas will team up in The Match 7 to take on vets Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

The Thomas-Spieth pairing is favored across sportsbooks, including -125 odds at Sportsbook. A -125 line gives us an implied odds probability of 55.56 percent that Spieth and Thomas will win The Match 7.

Best Bet: Woods/McIlroy

While Spieth and Thomas are the more reliable pairing, the veteran duo of Tiger and Rory has the upside and the better odds. With just 12 holes to play and plenty of time to prep, Woods’ injury issues and inconsistencies will be mitigated. The best ball format helps even more, as both players have high ceilings and can do the heavy lifting if they’re in a groove.

McIlroy might be the most in-form golfer around right now. He’s currently ranked No. 1 in the world and finished top 10 in his previous six PGA events this year, including two wins. If Rory can bring that form to The Match, he and Tiger will surely win.

Rules & Format

The Match 7 will be a 12-hole contest “under the lights,” teeing off at 7 p.m. local time. The event will fundraise to support hurricane Ian relief efforts. The format is four-ball best ball, meaning the best score from each hole for each partnership is counted. Both players will play out the entire hole, though, unlike a scramble format.
