Yes the offense was due to take a hit with the loss of Mookie Betts this offseason, but slow starts from key players including J.D Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, and Andrew Benintendi are what is dragging the team down.
And to make matter worse for the Red Sox, they are allowing 5.86 runs per game over this current 2-5 SU skid. Staff ace Eduardo Rodriguez has developed myocarditis in connection to his bout with COVID-19, potentially putting his 2020 season in jeopardy.
