Red Sox Have not Been Worth the Price of Admission

Wrapping up what has been a forgettable series for them, the Red Sox will call upon David Price  (1-1, 5.09 ERA) to pitch against Joe Musgrove (4-5, 4.81 ERA) in prime time tonight. In their first real slump of the season, the ‘Stros will be facing a pitching tonight who’s posted some his best career numbers against them.

SHARK BITES
  • David Price has a 4-2 record and 2.68 ERA in 7 career starts against the Astros.
  • The Astros are 2-4 SU in their last 6 games as home favorites.
  • The Red Sox are 1-4 SU in David Price's last 5 starts on the road.

Although he hasn’t been able to put it all together since his golden pay day last year, David Price is still an elite talent in the American League and he’s showed flashes of that since returning from his elbow injury in late May. The Astros have struggled a little against lefty pitching this season – relatively speaking – so if Price can avoid an implosion, the Bo Sox have a good chance to win this series.

Houston has done a fair bit of reeling in the starting pitching department since they placed Dallas Keuchel, Lance McCullers and Charlie Morton on the DL but Musgrove, their starter today, has performed admirably when called upon. He’s allowed two runs over his last 11.2 innings pitched and he’s been throwing a ton of strikes, issuing just one walk in that span.

This is a matchup of what most considered a preview of the ALCS at the beginning of the season and the odds imply just how close Sportsbooks see it. The Astros opened as slight underdogs but the line has since moved in their direction and they'll probably close as the fave.
