Indians Look for Historic Win as Biggest Moneyline Favorites of 2017

Two victories stand between the Cleveland Indians and sole possession of the longest winning streak in American League history and they will take on the tanking Detroit Tigers tonight as the BIGGEST moneyline favorites of the season.

SHARK BITES
  • The Indians are 3-0 SU and on the runline as favorites of -325 or bigger this season.
  • The Tigers are 1-8 SU and 2-7 on the runline as underdogs of +200 or bigger this season.
  • The Tigers are 0-4 on the runline in their last 4 games against the Indians.

Outscoring their opponents 132-32 during their run, the Indians have not just been winning, they’ve been absolutely crushing every team in their path, going 17-for-19 on the runline. The offense and pitching have both come together in extraordinary ways for the Tribe and with Corey Kluber (15-4, 2.56 ERA) taking the mound in a matchup with Matt Boyd (5-9, 5.93 ERA) tonight, it’s no surprise Cleveland is such a chalky play.

Kluber, who’s propelled the Indians to wins in nine of his last 10 starts, has not been as sharp against the Tigers as you’d like if you’re a whale putting a sizable bet on the Tribe. The former AL Cy Young Award Sportsbook owns a 5.14 ERA against Detroit this season (his worst ERA vs any team in the majors in 2017) and his team is just 2-2 straight up in matchups with the Tigers this year when Kluber has started.

That’s a little worrisome – until you look into Boyd’s numbers. The Tigers are 0-7 straight up in the 26-year-old lefty’s last seven appearances and he owns a 6.17 ERA since the all-star break. He has, however, pitched well against the Indians, limiting them to five runs in 18.2 innings of action.

Cleveland has to lose at some point but given the gravity of the trends and the goals of both the Tigers and Indians, it’s probably not going to happen tonight.
