Sportsbook Odds Analysis
Florida State opened as a 2.5-point favorite and has received close to 70 percent of the tickets so far, pushing its odds now to -3. The total has remained rather stagnant at a relatively low 140-point mark considering these two teams have combined to average a total of 158.75 early this season.
Indiana News & Notes
Aside from an embarrassing 66-44 loss to Texas early in December, Indiana has dominated opponents, winning its three other contests by an average of 22.33 points.
Behind returning top scorer Trayce Jackson-Davis, the Hoosiers are looking to build off an impressive 16-point victory over Stanford a week ago. Davis has been a staple in Archie Miller’s offense in his young college career and is coming off a career-high 31 points against the Cardinal.
The Hoosiers are looking to cover the spread for the fifth time in their last six contests.
Florida State News & Notes
Florida State, coming off a 26-win season, coasted to a predictable 86-58 blowout of winless North Florida in its lone game to date.
The Seminoles open the season without their top two scorers from a year ago, Devin Vassell and Trent Forrest. In fact, Vassell and Forrest accounted for more than half of the team’s offensive production in 2019-20, scoring 739 of Florida State’s 1,455 points. Vassell also was the team leader in rebounds and Forrest topped the squad in assists.
Florida State has also been a good bet, covering the spread in six of its last seven dating back to last season.
Betting Pick: Indiana +3
The public seems to be blindly backing a team that is coming off an ACC-best 26-5 record last season but has lost a significant volume of scoring. The Leonard Hamilton era has been impressive, but coaching an almost entirely new starting lineup will have quite a few hiccups. Look for a possible repeat of last season’s matchup: Indiana should cover and could even win outright.
- Indiana is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games vs the ACC.
- Florida State is 6-0 SU in its last 6 games in December.
- Florida State is 6th in the NCAA in offensive rebounding.
