The Crimson Tide opened as 14-point favorites in this matchup and were quickly bet up to Alabama -15.5. The total has also been bumped up a bit to 57.5 points since Sportsbook at 56.5 points. The OVER is 4-1 in Florida’s last five games.

Alabama News & Notes

Alabama took a 31-0 lead into the half against the Mercer Bears on Saturday and scored touchdowns on the first two drives of the second half before taking its foot off the gas en route to a 48-14 win. Bryce Young went 19-for-27 with 227 passing yards and three touchdowns in the win, bringing his season totals to 571 passing yards with seven scoring strikes.

No one had any answers for Alabama last season as the Crimson Tide rolled to a national championship with a 13-0 SU and 9-4 ATS record. Will this season be any different? Alabama passed its first big test of the season with flying colors in a 44-13 win over the Miami Hurricanes and will face another test this weekend on the road against the Gators.

Florida News & Notes

Emory Jones will enter Saturday’s game against Alabama as Florida’s starting quarterback, but he’ll have to play a lot better than he did in the team’s 42-20 win over the South Florida Bulls to keep his job.

Jones went 14-for-22 with 151 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions on Saturday and added 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Anthony Richardson did more with far fewer snaps, going 3-for-3 for 152 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Jones threw two interceptions in Florida’s Sportsbook win against the Florida Atlantic Owls as well. Richardson went only 3-for-8 in that game but did rush for 160 yards and a score on seven carries. Regardless of how many snaps Jones and Richardson get this weekend, life is about to get a lot more difficult against Alabama’s defense.

Staff Betting Pick: Alabama -15.5

Anthony Richardson is clearly the more explosive of Florida’s two quarterbacks, but his explosiveness and status for Saturday’s game are in question due to hamstring tightness. With or without Richardson, the Gators likely don’t have the firepower to keep up with this Crimson Tide offense.
