Notre Dame Covers Against Teams With Winning Records

The Fighting Irish are having a rough season and in Week 11 will play their second game in a row against an armed forces team after dropping a close contest to Navy at EverBank Field. Army, this week’s opponent, has not beaten Notre Dame since 1958 – a stretch of 14 games.  These two Independent teams will meet at the Alamodome on Saturday for the 41st matchup in their history.

SHARK BITES
  • Notre Dame is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games at home against teams with winning records.
  • Army is 1-11 SU and ATS in its last 12 games on the road against teams with losing records.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Army's last 11 games.

Army currently sits atop the Independent Conference with a record of 5-4 and they’ve gotten there on the back of their defense that has given up the seventh-fewest yards in the nation and has allowed the opposition to score just 18.1 points per game. Notre Dame gives up significantly more points per game and with neither team having the edge on the offensive side of the football, this one could come down to Army’s advantage on defense.

An interesting trend is that Notre Dame has been the favorite in all but one of its games so far and has covered in every game it’s won. The Fighting Irish, however, have won just three games, meaning they don’t cover very often.

This line opened with Notre Dame laying 11.5 points which should be a good sign for Irish backers. Notre Dame has won and covered two of three games they’ve played this season when they’ve been favorites of 11.5 or more points.
