Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The line on this matchup has remained steady early in the week since the Buckeyes opened as 19-point road favorites. The total has moved down just slightly to 60 points since Sportsbook at 60.5 points. Indiana is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games against Ohio State.

Ohio State News & Notes

The Buckeyes have bounced back nicely from their shocking 35-28 loss to the Oregon Ducks back in Week 2 and their last ATS loss against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Week 3. Since then, Ohio State is 3-0 SU and ATS and has outscored opponents 117-37.

C.J. Stroud has thrown five touchdown passes and no interceptions in each of his last two games and now has 1,699 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns and only three picks in his five starts in 2021.

Ohio State ranks best in the nation in total yards with a staggering 562.7 per game and is second in scoring with 48.5 points per game. On defense, the Buckeyes have allowed 20.5 points per game so far this season.

Indiana News & Notes

The Hoosiers fell to 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS in a 20-15 loss to the Michigan State Spartans as 3.5-point home underdogs last Saturday. Indiana has had a brutal schedule to start the season with games against the Iowa Hawkeyes, Cincinnati Bearcats, Penn State Nittany Lions and Michigan State. It’s safe to assume the Hoosiers are probably better than their record indicates, but things don’t get any easier on Saturday against Ohio State.

Quarterback play has been a major issue for the Hoosiers. Jack Tuttle threw two interceptions and had no touchdowns in relief of Michael Penix Jr. last Saturday. Penix, who was out with a shoulder injury against the Spartans and is questionable to return this week, has an underwhelming 4-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio of his own.

Why Ohio State Will Cover

Ohio State’s last three wins have come by an average margin of 46.6 points. Indiana will provide a tougher challenge than those three teams did, but with the Buckeyes clicking on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, it may not matter.

Why Indiana Will Cover

Indiana has covered the spread in each of its last five games against Ohio State, for what that’s worth. It’s also worth noting the Buckeyes have a huge game against Penn State coming up next weekend; if they get caught looking ahead to that one or pull their starters early in preparation for it, that could open the door to a Hoosiers cover.
