Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Oklahoma State opened as a 21.5-point favorite in this matchup and the line has remained unchanged through the early betting period. The total has also stayed steady at 54.5 points. Kansas is 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS over its last six games, including a 0-2 SU and ATS start to the 2020 season.

Oklahoma State News & Notes

Shane Illingworth finished his day against the West Virginia Mountaineers with 139 passing yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. But despite that disastrous line, the Cowboys rode their excellent defense and running game to a comfortable 27-13 win at home as 5.5-point favorites. Chuba Hubbard had 101 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and LD Brown added 103 rushing yards and a score on only 11 carries in the win.

Dating back to last season, the Cowboys are now 6-2 SU and ATS over their last eight games. The schedule shapes up nicely to give Spencer Sanders some more time to rest his ankle injury with this week’s game coming against lowly Kansas and a bye next week. Sanders is officially listed as questionable for this week’s game, but Mike Gundy will likely opt to play it safe with his starting quarterback in a game he won’t likely be needed in.

Kansas News & Notes

The Jayhawks’ last winning season came all the way back in 2008; in every season since 2010, Kansas has lost at least nine games and gone no better than 1-8 in Big 12 Conference play. The hiring of Les Miles last season came with optimism that things might finally turn around, but Rock Chalk fans are still waiting.

Kansas went 3-9 SU and 5-7 ATS in 2019 and is off to a 0-2 SU and ATS start in 2020 with a 38-23 loss at home to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and a 47-14 loss on the road to the Baylor Bears.

Needless to say, a coronavirus-shortened offseason did Miles and his young team no favors. The growing pains on the field aren’t likely to end any time soon in the high-powered Big 12 Conference.

Betting Pick: Oklahoma State -21.5

Kansas has allowed 194 rushing yards per game through its first two games. This defense is going to get torched by Oklahoma State’s running game, and it’s difficult to find a path to success on offense against the Cowboys’ stout defense. Look for Oklahoma State’s success against Kansas to continue.
