Odds for Johnny Manziel to make NFL Roster in 2018

Will Johnny Manziel be signed by an NFL team before or during the NFL season?

The ongoing saga of Johnny Manziel and his quest to make it back to the NFL is back on the radar of NFL experts and analysts and, most importantly, online sportsbooks.

There are odds on whether Johnny Football will be on a 53-man roster for the 2018 NFL regular season with the odds leaning toward him not playing this year at -400.

If Manziel decides to Go to the CFL, he wouldn’t be eligible to play in the NFL until November 2019 at the earliest due to CFL rules.

Manziel has been participating in the NFL’s Spring League, which was created for aspiring football players trying to make it back into the professional ranks. This was Johnny Football’s first game action in over two years, with his last snaps taken on December 27, 2015, with the Cleveland Browns.

If NFL teams opt not to sign him, Manziel has said he will likely make a two-year commitment to play in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who own his rights. If he decides to go up north, he wouldn’t be eligible to play in the NFL until November 2019 at the earliest due to the CFL’s rules stipulating players must be signed to minimum two-year agreements.

At this stage, it would seem absurd to think an NFL team would sign him but with quarterback-needy teams eyeing signal-callers in the upcoming draft and the likes of Brandon Weeden and Robert Griffin III getting one-year deals, predicting the quarterback market may be a fool’s errand.
