Hill vs Ulberg Odds & Picks: Too Soon For Black Jag?

The UFC 303 co-main event is set, with ex-light heavyweight champ Jamahal Hill taking on Carlos Ulberg on June 29 in Las Vegas. Right now, the line has this fight at pick'em odds.

Hill, fresh off a KO loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 300, was originally scheduled to face Khalil Rountree. Rountree failed a drug test and pulled out of the fight, opening the door for Ulberg to step up.

Remember, Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler is the UFC 303 main event, so the stakes are very high.

How Hill Wins

To win, Hill must fight like a champion. That's not to say he looked timid against Pereira (though many do); he just wasn't himself. Ulberg represents a softer next opponent, but the New Zealander might prove difficult, especially in stand-up exchanges.

I want to see Hill establish himself better. That doesn't mean a high-flying knuckle-trading exchange within the first minute. "Sweet Dreams" has the advantage of multiple main events under his belt. He can drag this bout into the championship rounds and test Ulberg's cardio. We know the big fella runs out of gas every once and while, so why not add that pressure to the mix of Ulberg's first five-round UFC fight?

Bet Hill straight up, too, as there's enough value in that play.

How Ulberg Wins

You can bet "Black Jag" watched Pereira's win over Hill closely. While Hill looked healthy at UFC 300, he once again appeared vulnerable to two things: leg kicks and check hooks. And brother that's what Ulberg does best.

The Kiwi's chiseled frame arms him with destructive power — not quite Pereira-level, but not too far off either. Ulberg has finished four of his six UFC wins, including a 12-second knockout of Alonzo Menifield on May 11.

Now riding a six-fight win streak, Ulberg is confident and fighting better than ever before. The public also loves his style, too, as indicated by the initial pick'em odds line. If you're betting on Ulberg, do so straight up. A prop KO might not have much value, but we'll adjust when those odds come out.

Hill vs Ulberg Picks

I'm riding with Hill at the current odds. While I understand Ulberg is a sexy pick, Jamahal's championship experience weighs heavily in these moments.

Pick: Hill (-110)
