UFC 246: Press Conference Prop Betting Odds

The UFC is kicking off 2020 in a big way with the return of “Notorious” Conor McGregor as he collides with fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 on January 18. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Irishman and former “champ champ” is a -335 favorite for this bout with Cowboy coming back at +255.

If you are like me and are way too excited for this event and can’t wait for Saturday to come, online sportsbook Sportsbook has released a series of prop options for the UFC 246 press conference taking place on January 15. I outline those props below and highlight a couple of options that I will be playing.

Don’t confuse the press conference prop odds with the UFC 246 prop odds we have already dedicated an article to. Additionally, Iain MacMillan has outlined three reasons why McGregorwill be the victor on Saturday night, while I have a breakdown on the three reasons why the underdog Cerrone is the bet to make. Lastly, if you are unsure how to place a wager on any of the options for this event, Odds Shark has a guide with all the information you need to make a bet.

UFC 246 Prop Bet Picks

The first prop bet that I absolutely love for the press conference is “Will Conor McGregor Predict a KO Finish Over Donald Cerrone?” The “Yes” option is +120 with the “No” coming back at -160, and the Yes is what I’m playing. I can’t think of a time when McGregor hasn’t said that he was going to knock out his opponent and in recent interviews “Notorious” has said that will be the outcome. He claims that he’s refocused and sharper than ever and this is the start of his 2020 season, so I expect him to say that he will knock Cerrone out, especially when someone in the media asks him how this fight will play out.

The second prop option that I will be playing is “Will ‘Khabib’ be said by either fighter?” The “Yes” option is coming in at +150 with the “No” favored at -200. I think that Khabib’s name will be brought up when someone poses a question regarding McGregor’s wrestling skills or even his cardio, since people say he slowed against the lightweight champion Nurmagomedov. My colleague Iain MacMillan agreed that Khabib will be brought up, perhaps with McGregor talking about once again challenging for the belt later this year.

Lastly, not an underdog option for this next one but rather a humorous prop bet that I like: “Will Donald Cerrone call Conor McGregor ‘McNugget’?” The “Yes” option is +165 with “No” coming back at -240. After the two exchanged jabs at a press conference in 2015, Cerrone’s go-to comment on the Ireland native was “McNugget” but that hasn’t been used in recent times and I highly doubt it’ll be said this week. Well, not by Cerrone, at least. Lightweight title challenger Tony Ferguson may utter it on Twitter but that’s not what this prop is looking for, so the No at -240 is the play to make.
