Dustin Johnson of the United States lines up a putt on the second green during the third round of the 2018 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 7, 2018 in Augusta, Georgia.

Expert PGA Betting Picks: RBC Heritage

Look, predicting a pre-tournament Sportsbook in golf isn’t easy. While it’s true sports bettors can find fantastic value, it’s incredibly frustrating when one of your picks doesn’t even make the cut. That’s why I’m here to help.

Every week I’ll highlight three golfers who have a good chance to win the hardware for the upcoming weekend. This week it’s the RBC Heritage.

My favorite pick: Dustin Johnson +800

I’m not exactly going out on a limb by any means by picking the world No. 1 and tournament favorite Johnson, but DJ is far and away the best player in the field at the RBC Heritage. Johnson hasn’t played in the tournament since 2009 on a course where he’s failed to finish under par in four rounds.

2009 was a long time ago, and Johnson is a completely different player now. The native of South Carolina should get a boost by making his triumphant return to his home state, so take the +800 price and run.

My second favorite pick: Brian Harman +2800

Harman, a native of nearby Savannah, Georgia, is a veteran of Harbour Town and has come close at the RBC Heritage. Harman recorded top-10s here in 2014 and 2017 and he enters this year’s tournament in great form.

With so many starry names grabbing headlines on the PGA Tour these days, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, and Harman finds himself firmly in that category as a solid, yet unspectacular player. The 31-year-old has finished in the top 10 on 11 occasions since his T-9 finish at the event last year.

My third favorite pick: Luke Donald +4000

At 40, Donald is in the twilight of his career, and it’s abundantly clear he’s not the golfer he was in his younger days. With that said, Donald is due for a win at this tournament more than any other player on the PGA Tour.

The Englishman easily has the best track record of any golfer without a win at the RBC Heritage. Donald has produced seven top-three finishes at the tournament in the past nine years. In that span, he’s failed to convert a 54-hole lead three times. If it finally happens this time around, bettors will be greatly rewarded at +4000 odds.
