MLB Strikeout Props April 8 2024

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props April 8: Back Gallen vs Rockies

I'm back with two more MLB strikeout prop bets to kick off your week.

I'm honed in on one particular game — DBacks vs Rockies — for both my selections. So, let's get after our two MLB strikeout props for April 8th:

Pick 1: Zac Gallen OVER 5.5 Ks (EVEN)

DBacks vs Rockies Matchup Preview - Game Time: 8:40 pm ET

Zac Gallen is really, really good. He’s allowed just one earned run in his first two starts of 2024, striking out six batters across six inning last time out vs the Yankees. In his last five regular season starts, dating back to 2023, he’s averaged exactly six strikeouts per outing.

The Rockies are really, really bad. They’re 2-8 as a team with a squad .240 batting average and .703 OPS. They’re also eighth-worst in baseball with 94 strikeouts in 10 games. As a team, this Rockies lineup has posted a .225 average and .615 OPS against Gallen in 120 at-bats.

Put those two truths together, and we’ve got an easy bet.

Pick 2: Kyle Freeland UNDER 3.5 Ks (-160)

DBacks vs Rockies Matchup Preview - Game Time: 8:40 pm ET

I’m all over the DBacks to win this game, so it makes sense I’m buying Gallen’s strikeout over and Freeland’s under. I think Freeland is going to have a straight-up bad time. In his first two starts of 2024, the Rockies lefty has allowed 17 earned runs in 5.2 innings. He has struck out two batters in each contest, walking four in total. He’s nearly allowed as many homers as Ks.

Freeland’s first two starts of 2024 have been awful, but his inability to strike people out dates back far longer. The last time Freeland surpassed 3.5 KS in a game was August 19th, 2023. He’s gone six-straight starts with three or fewer Ks.
