Cardinals vs Padres Same-Game Parlay April 3: St. Louis To Upset

BetOdds
Cardinals Moneyline+130
Paul Goldschmidt To Record A Hit-210
Joe Musgrove under 6.5 strikeouts-156
Overall+289

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 1: Cardinals Moneyline

Zack Thompson may not be a household name, but I'm backing his Cardinals today. The main reason here is I think St. Louis' offense is going to explode. They've scored at least five runs in three of their last four games, and match up very well against San Diego's Joe Musgrove.

Active Cards hold a career .979 OPS against Musgrove, including 10 extra-base hits in 90 career at-bats. This one may seem like a pitching edge for San Diego, but I actually think the Cardinals are in a better spot.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Paul Goldschmidt To Get A hit

I'm going to break down below why I think the entire Cardinals lineup is going to be a problem for Padres starter Joe Musgrove, but Goldschmidt leads the charge. Goldy has 11 hits in 21 career at-bats against Musgrove and he clearly sees the ball well out of the righty's hand. He also has nine walks to just three strikeouts in his career against Musgrove, impressive stuff. This is as sure of a hit bet as I've had this season.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 3: Joe Musgrove Under 6.5 Ks

Musgrove has not been good against this Cardinals lineup, and I don't think he'll stay in this game long.

He's got just 22 walks. to 17 strikeouts in 90 career at-bats against current Cards, good for a .333 average and .979 OPS against him. In particular, Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Brandon Crawford all have career OPS over 1.000 against Musgrove.

Musgrove also hasn't looked very good so far this season, allowing nine earned runs in 8.1 innings pitched. He hasn't surpassed 3 strikeouts yet this year.
