YRFI/NRFI picks (Yes/No Run First Inning) are the sharpest way to bet MLB these days. And today, April 12, we've got some winners for you:
Pick 1: Rockies vs Blue Jays: Yes Run First Inning (-110)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:07 pm ET
These clubs are polar opposites. The Blue Jays have yet to score a first-inning run this year, while the Rox have scored eight first-inning runs, which leads MLB.
But why am I anticipating a score? Toronto's offense, particularly Justin Turner and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have been extra-base happy lately. I'm counting on a big hit from either of those guys Friday.
And if not, it's just as likely Kevin Gausman will give up a run. The right-hander's been shaky early in games this season, and he carries a 9.53 ERA into his third start of the year.
Pick 2: Dodgers vs Padres: No Run First Inning (-115)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 10:10 pm ET
Firstly, the Padres are 7-3 NRFI in their last 10. That's a key number, but Friday's bet is based on quality starting pitching.
I've highlighted this contest in my MLB same-game parlay because I believe we'll see a pitching duel, albeit one where Los Angeles and Yoshinobu Yamamoto come out on top. Michael King is a top talent, but certain Dodgers, including Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, have good numbers against him.
L.A. might pile onto King, but not until the second time through the order.
