The Morning (Evening) Dunk: NBA Playoff Matchups Determined On Final Day

The NBA regular season has officially concluded, so now the fun begins. All 30 teams from across the Association competed on Sunday to finalize the brackets, and The Morning Dunk (in the Evening, mind you) has got you covered with all you may have missed.

Official Eastern, Western Conference Postseason Matchups Finalized

Only one series had been officially set heading into Sunday's enormous slate of games, so there was plenty still yet to be determined on the final day of the 2023-24 campaign.

With a full 82-game season now over and done with, here's a look at how the first round and play-in tournaments look in each conference:

Eastern Conference

  • No. 1 Boston Celtics vs. No. 8 seed
  • No. 2 New York Knicks vs. No. 7 seed
  • No. 3 Milwaukee Bucks vs. No. 6 Indiana Pacers
  • No. 4 Cleveland Cavaliers vs. No. 5 Orlando Magic

Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament

  • No. 7 Philadelphia 76ers vs. No. 8 Miami Heat
  • No. 9 Chicago Bulls vs. No. 10 Atlanta Hawks

Western Conference

  • No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder vs. No. 8 seed
  • No. 2 Denver Nuggets vs. No. 7 seed
  • No. 3 Minnesota Timberwolves vs. No. 6 Phoenix Suns
  • No. 4 Los Angeles Clippers vs. No. 5 Dallas Mavericks

Western Conference Play-In Tournament

  • No. 7 New Orleans Pelicans vs. No. 8 Los Angeles Lakers
  • No. 9 Sacramento Kings vs. No. 10 Golden State Warriors

The Thunder clinched the first overall seed in the West, becoming the youngest team to ever do so and the youngest to finish with at least 57 victories.

Scuffle Ensues In Preview Of First-Round Meeting

How fitting it is that Sunday's festivities between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns got heated and physical, because they'll be seeing each other again awfully soon.

Now it certainly didn't register on the richter scale, but Bradley Beal and Anthony Edwards did get into somewhat of a shoving match in the second quarter of an eventual 125-106 victory for Phoenix which helped secure the No. 6 seed and avoid the play-in tournament entirely.

These two squads will meet again in Game 1 on Saturday, April 20 at the Target Center.
