Baltimore News & Notes

The Ravens closed as 3.5-point favorites at home against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night after Sportsbook the year with a 38-6 win over the Cleveland Browns and a 33-16 win over the Houston Texans.

But they failed to deliver as favorites in prime time in a 34-20 loss to the Chiefs. Baltimore had no answer for Patrick Mahomes, who torched the defense for 385 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

The loss was Baltimore’s first regular-season setback since the Ravens were defeated by the Cleveland Browns all the way back on September 29, 2019. Lamar Jackson had a rare off day with only 97 passing yards and one passing touchdown. He will try to bounce back against a Washington pass defense that ranks fifth best in the NFL in passing yards allowed with 202.7 per game.

Washington News & Notes

Washington took a 20-17 lead into the fourth quarter last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, but 17 unanswered points left the team on the wrong side of a 34-20 loss. The struggles of Dwayne Haskins Jr. continued as the second-year quarterback completed only 56.8 percent of his passes for 224 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and three interceptions. Washington fell to 1-2 SU and ATS on the season and 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS over its last seven games.

Head coach Ron Rivera stated after the game that the rest of the team “deserved better” than what Haskins has given them. With Washington currently tied for first place in the lowly NFC East and a healthy Alex Smith on the roster, Haskins may need a strong game against Baltimore to secure his role as Washington’s starter moving forward.

Betting Pick: Baltimore -12.5

The loss to Kansas City on Monday night was ugly, but the Chiefs are the NFL’s best team by a considerable margin. Going up against a team of Washington’s caliber, the Ravens should get back to their dominant ways.
