Bears vs Jets Betting Preview

Bears vs Jets Sportsbook Odds

The Jets opened as 4-point favorites, or -188 on the moneyline, despite the fact New York has been abysmal recently against teams with losing records, going 0-12 both SU and ATS in that scenario. The total opened at 48 but has fallen fast. Something’s got to give as the OVER is 5-0 in the Bears’ last five games, while the UNDER is 5-0 in the Jets’ last five contests.

Fields Beginning To Show His Worth

Justin Fields has taken his game to a different level in recent weeks, especially with his legs, averaging 137 rushing yards per game in his last three contests. He leads all quarterbacks and is fifth overall in the NFL with 834 rushing yards. The team continues to rely heavily on the run game with Fields averaging under 21 passing attempts per game.

Unfortunately for the Bears, though, Fields’ strong play hasn’t resulted in wins as Chicago has lost four straight games and seven of its last eight. The Bears, who have long been known for great defenses, have struggled to stop opposing offenses. They have given up an average of 35 points during their current four-game losing streak.

Wilson Continues To Adapt To Life In The NFL

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson isn’t impressing many people these days, on or off the field. He is coming off one of the worst starts of his career, in which he completed just seven of 22 passes for 77 yards in a 10-3 loss to the Patriots. To make matters worse, New York lost in true Jets fashion when New England returned a punt for a touchdown in the dying seconds to secure the victory.

Wilson reportedly angered some of his teammates by not shouldering any of the blame when speaking with the media after the loss to the Pats. Head coach Robert Saleh called his comments a mistake and compared the team’s offensive performance in the second half to dog feces. This led to questions surrounding his starting quarterback this week.

Now, despite losing two of their last three games, both to the Pats, the Jets remain in playoff contention with a 6-4 record.

Bears: Keys To Victory

Protect Fields. Maybe the reason he runs so much is because his offensive line has hung him out to dry. He has been sacked 40 times, eight more than Russell Wilson and Joe Burrow, who sit second on that list. With an injured shoulder, it will be more important than ever for the O-line to prevent Fields from getting hit too often.

Jets: Keys To Victory

Their defense. Fields is prone to interceptions, with eight already this season, while the Jets D has proven it can create turnovers. If they can force Fields to make mistakes and give their offense short fields to work with, then taking the home team when making your Bears vs Jets pick could turn into a winning bet.
