Kyler Murray Future odds.

Will Kyler Murray Be Traded This Offseason?

There was a long stretch during the 2021 NFL season when Kyler Murray had better odds than Aaron Rodgers to win the MVP award. Then December rolled around. The Cardinals lost five of their last six, including a 34-11 blowout to the Rams in their wild-card playoff game, and the Kyler Murray MVP conversation stopped.

The former No. 1 overall pick recently scrubbed his social media presence clean of any affiliation with the Arizona Cardinals and now people are once again talking about Murray. This time it isn’t about his odds to win MVP, but instead many are speculating where the former Heisman Trophy Sportsbook will be playing next year.

[Sportsbook not available for your region] has recently posted odds fueling the speculation fire. Bettors and NFL fans now have an opportunity to make a bet on which team Murray will be playing for come next September. An interesting twist with those odds: one of the teams mentioned doesn’t play football.

Why Are The Cardinals Favored In The Kyler Murray Future Odds?

Arizona Cardinals (-900)

The Cardinals were 10-2 before their season fell apart. Even if Kyler Murray is to blame for some of the demise, the Cardinals are not going to walk away from a QB who spent three-quarters of the season as an MVP candidate and is still playing on a rookie contract.

I’m not sure what Murray would have to do in order for the Cardinals to trade him at this point, but whatever it is, he hasn’t done it yet. I expect Murray will still be in Arizona to start next year. Do I want to rush out and bet on Arizona at -900? No. I think there is better value on the board, but the Cardinals are definitely the heavy favorite.

Kyler Murray Trade Rumors

At this point, we don’t know a lot about Kyler Murray’s desire to remain in Arizona. What we do know is that Murray was sending a message of some sort when he gave his social media a thorough scrub and removed all evidence that he is the starting QB for the Cardinals. Obviously, this has led to a great deal of speculation and rumors about why he did that and what this could mean moving forward.

Denver Broncos (+1100)

Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock, Joe Flacco, Case Keenum and Trevor Siemian are the main reasons why the Denver Broncos are currently being offered at +1100 odds to land the disgruntled Murray. The Broncos have not been able to find a long-term QB since Peyton Manning retired and it’s no secret John Elway and company would like to rectify that situation.

Green Bay Packers (+1400)

Oh boy, wouldn’t it be fun to see Aaron Rodgers and his Arizona Cardinals taking on Kyler Murray and his Green Bay Packers in a playoff game at Lambeau Field? A more likely scenario might actually be Murray and his Packers traveling to Arizona for that game.

At +1400 odds, you might want to parlay this bet with a Kliff Kingsbury Coach of the Year bet as well, if the Cardinals are going to end up with Rodgers. This is my dream Kyler Murray scenario and the option I am hoping plays out. It’s a long shot, though.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+800)

I fully expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be in next year’s Super Bowl. Unfortunately for Murray, my bet is on Tom Brady making a midseason reappearance and continuing his onslaught on the NFL record books after sitting out an unnecessary training camp and some early-season games.

My instincts tell me that Brady is not yet done tormenting the Buffalo Bills, Bill Belichick, Atlanta Falcons fans and anyone else who opposes him. At +800, I don’t see any value in Tampa Bay here.

Will Murray Go To MLB?

Oakland Athletics (+2000)

Kyler Murray played two seasons of baseball while also winning a Heisman at the University of Oklahoma. In his second year of baseball, the two-sport star hit .296 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases. Murray is the only athlete to have been selected in the first round of both the NFL and MLB drafts.

The Oakland Athletics drafted Murray ninth overall. If the timing of the NFL season wasn’t the same as MLB’s September call-ups, I wouldn’t give this much of a chance. However, if Murray was going to play baseball next year, September is the month it makes the most sense.

Personally, I am putting a half unit on the Pittsburgh Steelers at +1400. The Steelers are not in the NFC, so Murray won’t be able to torment the Cards for years to come, unless it’s annually in the Super Bowl.

Plus, somehow, some way, Mike Tomlin steered Pittsburgh into the playoffs this season despite some horrendous QB play from future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers must like their chances both in the short and long term if they could ever pry Murray away from the Cardinals.
