NFL Betting Props: Texans and Bears

The Houston Texans and Chicago Bears are both 7-3, and both will move forward without their starting quarterbacks as Jay Cutler and Matt Schaub are out for the rest of the season with injuries. The question on NFL betting fans’ minds is how will their replacements fare?

Here’s a look at the prop bets Sportsbook whipped up on these two quarterbacks and their teams, as well as a prop bet on Tim Tebow for Week 12.

Matt Leinart returns to starting role

Matt Leinart hasn’t thrown a regular season pass since 2009, and has only started one game since 2007. But with Matt Schaub out he’s the guy, and this is his chance to prove he has something to offer in the NFL. Bettors can bet on whether Leinart will throw for Over (-115) or Under (-115) 220.5 yards against Jacksonville this week, as well as whether he’ll throw Over (+145) or Under (-175) 1.5 touchdown passes.

Caleb Hanie gets his chance

Caleb Hanie will make his first career start at Oakland this week. Bettors may recall the name as Hanie came in to replace the injured Jay Cutler in last year’s NFC Championship Game against Green Bay. Bettors can bet on whether Hanie will throw for Over (-115) or Under (-115) 200.5 yards against the Raiders as well as whether he’ll throw Over (+200) or Under (-260) 1.5 touchdown passes.

How will Chicago and Houston Finish?

Looking past just this week, the big question is how will both of these 7-3 teams finish down the stretch? Bettors can bet on exact records for each team’s remaining six games. For Houston, the odds are currently: 0-6 (100/1), 1-5 (18/1), 2-4 (9/2), 3-3 (2/1), 4-2 (2/1), 5-1 (4/1), and 6-0 (18/1). For Chicago, the odds are currently: 0-6 (65/1), 1-5 (10/1), 2-4 (3/1), 3-3 (5/4), 4-2 (3/1), 5-1 (10/1), and 6-0 (80/1).

Tim Tebow’s Accuracy

Much has been made about John Elway’s comments on Tim Tebow this week, and how his accuracy needs to be better. It is hard to argue otherwise, as Tebow’s completion percentage is currently dead last among players with at least 20 passes at 44.8 percent. Sportsbook has one prop for Tim Tebow; will he have a 50% or better completion percentage at San Diego this week? “Yes” is +150, “No” is -200.
