The Philadelphia Eagles are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Washington Redskins, winning those games by an average margin of 13.4 points. The Eagles hope to earn another win over the Redskins on Sunday in Washington.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
Early bettors jumped on the points to back the home dog in Washington, betting the line down from its Sportsbook spot at -6 to Philadelphia -4.5. The Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against division rivals. The total line remains unchanged at 40 points.
Philadelphia News & Notes
After falling down 17-3 to the New York Giants at home on Monday night, the Eagles clawed back into the game in the second half to force overtime before going on to win 23-17. The team and the media are spinning this as a tremendous moment for Carson Wentz, which it was: the 26-year-old had 325 passing yards and two touchdown passes in the comeback win. But in reality, needing a heroic comeback to beat the lowly Giants at home is not a good look.
Philadelphia avoided a fourth straight moneyline loss but still fell to 0-4 ATS over its last four games after failing to cover as a 9-point home favorite. On the season, the Eagles are now 6-7 SU and 4-9 ATS.
Washington News & Notes
Since going 1-9 SU and 3-7 ATS through their first 10 games, the Washington Redskins have been playing some good football of late. The Redskins beat the Detroit Lions 19-16 at home as 4-point underdogs to snap a four-game losing streak, and followed that up with a 29-21 road win over the Carolina Panthers as 10.5-point underdogs. Washington put up a good fight last Sunday in a 20-15 road loss to the Green Bay Packers as 13-point dogs, too.
Dwayne Haskins is still very much a work-in-progress, averaging only 138.7 passing yards per game with an ugly 3-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio through seven games. Washington’s improved play has come from the defense and running game, not the rookie quarterback. The running game moving forward took a hit in Green Bay with Derrius Guice landing on the IR with an MCL sprain.
Betting Pick: Eagles -4.5
The Eagles have not played well this season, and a division rivalry road game in December won’t be fun. But with Guice out and Haskins struggling under center, the Redskins probably won’t have enough offensive output to keep up with Philadelphia.
