Tampa Bay Poised to End Recent Struggles vs New York

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just 1-8 SU in their last nine road games against the New York Giants. That long run of troubles against the Giants is likely to come to an end on Monday Night Football when Tom Brady’s red-hot Buccaneers roll into town to face the struggling Giants.

Tampa Bay News & Notes

Tom Brady got off to a slow start in Tampa Bay with three touchdown passes, three interceptions and 228 passing yards per game through his first two starts as a Buccaneer. But over his last five games, Brady has racked up 290.8 passing yards per game with 15 passing touchdowns and only one interception. The team is rolling as a result with a 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS record over its last six games.

Brady has been enjoying this success despite having a banged-up wide receiver corps. Mike Evans has been limited with an ankle injury and Chris Godwin, who had already missed three games this season, will be out again Monday night.

The Buccaneers have signed Antonio Brown to a one-year contract for some much-needed depth, but he will be ineligible to play on Monday and is expected to make his return next week against New Orleans.

New York News & Notes

New York’s front office took a ton of heat for going off the board to draft quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in 2019. This season has done nothing to quiet those critics as Jones has regressed from his rookie year.

Jones is averaging a paltry 201.4 passing yards per game and has only five touchdown passes to go along with seven interceptions and four fumbles. With their 22-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, the Giants fell to 1-6 SU on the season.

The Giants enter Monday night with a 4-0 ATS record on the road and a 0-3 ATS record at home. The team passed on drafting a quarterback when it took Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick in 2018 and may have whiffed on the Jones pick in 2019; will they stick by their young quarterback or be looking to draft another one in 2021?

Betting Pick: Tampa Bay -10.5

New York has looked somewhat competitive in its last three games, but those all came against the other three terrible teams in the NFC East. A sharp uptick in competition on Monday should result in a double-digit loss at home.
