Golden Tate On The Move?

If there is one player I think will most definitely be traded before Tuesday’s deadline, it’s Golden Tate. Tate is currently employed by the 1-6 New York Giants and at 32 years old is nearing the end of his career.

The Giants will probably only get a late draft pick for the wideout, but it would be the right thing to do. At +275 the idea of Tate being traded seems more like a reality at this point, as the Giants have been utilizing Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton more than him.

Tate is in the second season of a four-year contract that pays him around $8 million a year. Teams like Baltimore, Green Bay and Tennessee seem like ideal fits for Tate and his slot-receiving prowess.

Will Belichick Really Part Ways With Gilmore?

After Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay in the offseason, many thought New England would still be OK because of its defense. However, after a 2-4 start to the season, including a drubbing at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers at home, many questions are being asked about whether the Patriots are in rebuild mode.

This week it was reported by Patriots insider Tom E. Curran that Gilmore’s home is on the market, with the listing saying that offers are due by Tuesday at 5 p.m. Does this mean Gilmore is expecting to be traded? If thats the case, I can imagine several teams that will reach out to Belichick.

At +425, I am going to take the risk that Gilmore will be traded by the deadline and make that wager. Now if he does move, he will definitely warrant a first-round pick, but would that even be enough for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year? Look for the Pittsburgh Steelers as one destination for him; they did give up a first-rounder last year to land Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins.

My thought is that Belichick wont want to trade Gilmore within the AFC, but instead would move him to a team in the NFC like the Seattle Seahawks that needs major help in the secondary.

Will David Njoku Be Traded?

David Njoku Is On His Way Out Of Cleveland

When the Cleveland Browns signed tight end Austin Hooper in the offseason to a four-year contract worth $44 million, all signs pointed to David Njoku being moved. The Browns failed to trade the tight end, who has another year left on his contract after this season.

The former first-round pick has played sparingly in three games this season, with just five receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown. Even with the season-ending injury to Odell Beckham Jr., Njoku is not expected to get many reps. Last week with Hooper out, third-string tight end Harrison Bryant got more targets than Njoku and scored two touchdowns.

Njoku did get his first touchdown of the season last week, but he would be better suited on a team that needs a big tight end to help catch balls. I think the Carolina Panthers or Arizona Cardinals would be a perfect fit for him. Both teams are fighting for the playoffs and both have a hole at that position. The Cardinals would be willing to give up a little bit more, knowing that they have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl by adding another weapon.
