Courtland Sutton and the Denver Broncos are favored in NFL betting odds over the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

Broncos Small Home Faves To Snap Losing Streak

The Denver Broncos (3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS) will be looking to snap a four-game skid both SU and ATS on Sunday when they host the Washington Football Team (2-5, 1-6), which has lost three in a row. The Broncos, who started 3-0, will have the benefit of some extra rest, though, after losing 17-14 to the Cleveland Browns as 1.5-point road underdogs in the Week 7 Thursday Night Football matchup.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The point spread is down to -3 in favor of host Denver while the total has fallen even more to 43 at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. Each of these teams is offensively challenged right now, and weather could be a factor on Sunday as well, with much cooler temperatures finally expected to hit the Mile High City. That said, it is also just hard for bettors to trust either of these skidding teams in their current state, so it will be interesting to see who they end up backing prior to kickoff – the guess is Washington.

Washington News & Notes

Washington fell 24-10 to the Green Bay Packers as 8.5-point road dogs last Sunday, losing by double digits for the second game in a row and failing to cover the spread for the third straight time. So why would bettors possibly wager on this team in this spot? That is a very good question, but it would likely be more of a fade on Denver than a bet on Washington.

The Broncos have been hit with numerous injuries to their defense, which was a strength during their 3-0 start. The question is, can Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke take advantage of Denver’s D? Heinicke has thrown at least one interception in each of his last three games, and he has been sacked six times over that stretch.

Denver News & Notes

The Broncos have seen their own quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, come down to earth in the last month, as he has not been the same since taking a big hit against the Baltimore Ravens in a 23-7 home loss as 1-point home favorites in Week 4.

Bridgewater was knocked out of that game just before halftime and entered concussion protocol, but he has not missed any action since then. However, he had five touchdown passes and no interceptions through Week 4. In Weeks 5-7, he has seven touchdowns and five picks.

Bridgewater has also been sacked at least twice in every game, including five in Week 6.

How Washington Will Cover

Washington has given up 24 points or more in its last six games and 30 or more in four of five. If the defense can pressure Bridgewater and force him into more turnovers, then this team can not only cover the spread here but possibly pull off the SU upset as well.

How Denver Will Cover

Denver obviously needs to keep Bridgewater upright and give him enough time to throw the ball and make plays. In three of the team’s last four games, the closing line has not exceeded 2 points in either direction, and that could end up being the case in this game too. So if the Broncos can find a way to end their losing streak, they will probably cover.
