However, he did score a rushing touchdown to contribute one of the three majors the Steelers put up over the final three quarters. It wasn’t the most impressive performance by the second-year professional, but regardless, it put a ring on his finger. 

Only five quarterbacks aged 25 or younger have won the Super Bowl championship. In fact, just 13 QBs who were 25 or younger have even started in a Super Bowl game, with the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow in 2022 the most recent to do so.

In Super Bowl 19, the Miami Dolphins handed the ball to 23-year-old Dan Marino as they went up against the San Francisco 49ers at Stanford Stadium. Marino was drafted 27th overall in 1983 and found himself on football’s biggest stage less than two years later. The University of Pittsburgh product passed for 318 yards and a touchdown while throwing two interceptions and being sacked four times. Despite his best efforts, the Dolphins went scoreless in the second half and lost 38-16 to the 49ers.

At the age of 26 years and 182 days, the Michigan product led his Pats to a 32-29 win over the Carolina Panthers. Brady threw for an elite 354 yards and a trio of touchdowns. 

The Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, at 25 years and 143 days old, had the opportunity to surpass Brady’s record in Super Bowl 55, where he ironically enough squared off against Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But Kansas City lost 31-9 as Brady earned his fifth career Super Bowl MVP award. Mahomes did become the youngest quarterback in league history to start in two Super Bowls, though – that counts for something, right?
