Shots On Goal Props Tonight: Giroux Shoots More On Home Ice

The NHL has an abundance of player and game props to get your hands on. A popular, rather simple option is shots on goal. We don't need the pucks to go in (though that's a nice bonus), we just need them to wind up their stick and hit the net.

NHL Prop #1 - Alex Ovechkin OVER 3.5 Shots (+110)

NHL Prop #2 - Claude Giroux OVER 2.5 Shots (-135)

NHL Prop #3 - Jack Hughes OVER 4.5 Shots (-160)

NHL shots on goal odds: march 1

Who likes to shoot right now? With all the NHL matchups tonight, here are the guys we're leaning on to go OVER or UNDER their shots on goal prop.

alex ovechkin OVER 3.5 Shots (+110)

Ovechkin clearly isn't having a career season, pocketing just 16 goals and 43 points. That puts the 38-year-old on pace for just 62 points, which would be his lowest full season total in the NHL.

But, he's still shooting. Ovi has sniped 20 shots in his last five outings, hitting the OVER on this line in four of those games. According to our betting report, Philadelphia also gives up the league-most shots to forwards (25.2 shots per game). Expect Ovechkin to keep firing at the net.

Claude giroux OVER 2.5 Shots (-135)

Ottawa returns to its nation's capital after a quick trip to visit Nashville and Washington, going 0-2 on the road.

Returning to home ice is an advantage for the Senators, where they average 32.7 shots per game, the 10th best mark in the league. That stat proves true for Claude Giroux (I didn't mean to rhyme there).

In his last five games, two have been at the Canadian Tire Centre and the 36-year-old hit the OVER on this line in each of those. Meanwhile, in the other three outings, he only slapped a single shot.

The Devils will use this West Coast road trip to earn some crucial points in the wild card race. New Jersey sparked some momentum in a 7-2 blowout against San Jose and will look to continue being menaces to Anaheim, another bottom-feeder team.

Jack Hughes recorded a dominant 11 shots at the SAP Centre and is obviously eager to boost his stats where he can. It has been the 22-year-old's second double-digit shot effort in his last five matchups.
