Euro 2012 Odds: Spain Favored

Spain won Euro 2008 and they won the World Cup in 2010, so it's little surprise they open the Euro 2012 odds menu as favorites to win again.

The European Championships are finally here and will take place in Poland and the Ukraine.

Spain (3.50 at Will Hill) has a loaded team with such stars as G Iker Casillas, Fernando Torres, and Xavi, but the squad was dealt a blow with the injury to David Villa.

Torres ended the season for Chelsea well and his offense will really be needed. Besides the loss of Villa Spain is in a very tough group with Italy, Ireland, and Croatia.

In the 2008 Euro finals Germany (4.00 at Sportsbook) lost to Spain 1-0 and they have the 2nd best odds this year. They went unbeaten in qualifying for the Euro and they have many veteran players.

Mario Gomez is a dangerous striker and in an interesting side note he has the best odds to take home top goal scorer for this competition. [ Check out cool Euro 2012 props and specials at Sportsbook]

The Netherlands (7.50) is a dangerous team, as they have a potent offense that scored the most goals in qualifying for this competition. Van Persie, Robin has the 2nd best odds to win top goal scorer, but it is the same old song and dance for the Dutch, as their defense is their weakness.

Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, and Ashley Young lead a strong England (10.00) squad, but team leader Frank Lampard is injured and his loss in the Euro is a big one. They have never won the Euro and their best showing was making it to the semis in 1996.

France (11.00) beat Serbia in a solid Euro tune up and after the horrid showing in the 2010 World Cup the French need to have a good competition.

Italy (15.00) has a veteran laden roster and they looked solid in qualifying for the Euro. G Gianluigi Buffon had resurgence this season leading Juventus to the Serie A title and if he plays like he did in the 2006 World Cup, the Italians will be hard to beat.

Still, they are an older squad and are in Spain’s group.

Portugal (12.00) does have goal scoring sensation Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, but their defense allowed 12 goals in qualifying for the Euro. The Portuguese may have to score many goals in this competition to make up for their major issues on defense.

On top of that they are in a tough group with Germany and Holland.
