Why Are The Birmingham Stallions USFL Championship Favorites?
The Birmingham Stallions (-170) opened the season as underdogs but quickly took their place atop the oddsboard, and for good reason. At 10-1 entering the USFL final, the Stallions are the second-highest scoring team in the league and have allowed the second-fewest points.
With their first pick of the USFL draft, the Stallions chose former Louisiana Tech quarterback J’Mar Smith. Though Smith completed only 55.4 percent of his passes in the regular season, he finished third in the league in passing yards (1,501) and doubled up his interception total with 10 touchdowns.
His numbers would look even more impressive but after he missed a start against the Tampa Bay Bandits in Week 4, backup quarterback Alex McGough split starts and snaps with the former Bulldog. Smith slowly reclaimed sole possession of the QB1 role after proving he was the driving force behind the team’s success, putting up strong numbers while managing the game well.

Are The Philadelphia Stars USFL Odds Value?
Led by dual-threat QB Case Cookus, the Stars weren’t really seen as a championship threat with a 6-4 regular-season record. However, they’ve found their way to the USFL final with defense and special teams and could now represent great USFL odds value.
In their last two wins, the Stars allowed 16 points or less, including a 19-14 upset over the 9-1 New Jersey Generals in the playoff semifinals. They have the league leader in return yards (Maurice Alexander) and interceptions (Channing Stribling) and will need to use the turnover and special teams edge to top the clearly more talented Birmingham squad.

When these two teams met in Week 5, the Stallions won 30-17 by scoring 16 unanswered points in the second half. The Birmingham defense held Stars QB Cookus to just 215 yards and no touchdowns, and if they impose their will again on both sides of the ball, this will be an easy Stallions victory.
