Atlanta Scored A Rare Preseason Win Last Friday

Rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder went 10-for-22 with 103 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in Atlanta’s 27-23 road win over the Detroit Lions. Ridder also rushed for 59 yards in the win and showed some nice poise on the final drive of the game with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jared Bernhardt to seal the victory.

Prior to Friday night’s win, the Falcons were a staggering 1-15 SU and ATS over their previous 16 preseason games. If the Falcons close as the favorite against the Jets, they will be looking for their first preseason win as a favorite since 2016, having gone 0-5 SU and ATS in their last five preseason games as the chalk. Bettors taking Atlanta as their Falcons vs Jets prediction will be hoping that this losing trend comes to an end against the Jets.

Jets Quarterbacks A Focus With Zach Wilson Out

Jets fans feared the worst when Zach Wilson suffered a non-contact knee injury in the team’s 27-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles last Friday, but fortunately the injury wasn’t too serious. Wilson reportedly had successful arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday and is only expected to miss two to four weeks of action.

With Wilson out, the Jets will turn to veteran Joe Flacco at starting quarterback. Look for Flacco to get some playing time on Monday along with backup quarterbacks Mike White and Chris Streveler. White went 10-for-20 with 98 passing yards and Streveler went 6-for-9 with 62 passing yards and two touchdown passes in the win over Philadelphia. New York is 4-0-1 SU and 4-1 ATS in its last five preseason games.

Falcons vs Jets Pick & Insights

Falcons: Keys To Cover

Atlanta drafted Desmond Ridder in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft as a potential quarterback of the future for the Falcons, and he looked the part last week. Marcus Mariota is still projected to be the team’s starter in Week 1, but expect Ridder to get plenty of action again against the Jets, which could lead to a Falcons vs Jets prediction victory.

Jets: Keys To Cover

The Falcons surrendered 292 passing yards against the Lions last week. New York will likely want to get all three of its healthy quarterbacks solid game action in this one, and if Atlanta’s pass defense is shaky, the path will be there for New York to score an upset win as a Falcons vs Jets pick at home.
