Jacksonville Hopes To Rebound After Blowout Loss To Lions

The Jaguars suffered their worst loss of the season on Sunday, falling behind 23-6 by halftime and going on to lose to the Detroit Lions 40-14 as 1-point road underdogs. Jacksonville now has eight losses on the season at 4-8 SU and ATS, but prior to the blowout, the seven previous losses had come by an average margin of only 6.9 points per game.

Trevor Lawrence went only 17-for-31 in the loss with 179 passing yards and one passing touchdown.

Jacksonville entered that game on a 2-1 SU and ATS run, though with the loss the Jaguars fell to 2-7 SU and ATS over their last nine games. The team has been trending in the right direction this year with breakout seasons on offense from Lawrence, running back Travis Etienne and wide receiver Christian Kirk, but scoring on a consistent basis has been an issue.

Tennessee Has Cooled Off Since Recent Hot Streak

The Titans were dominated on both sides of the ball in a 35-10 loss on the road to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Derrick Henry was held to 30 rushing yards on 11 carries  one week after registering only 38 yards on 17 attempts. With the lack of a legitimate deep threat in the passing game to keep opposing defenses honest, Henry has been shut down and the Titans have averaged only 13 points per game during their current 0-2 SU and ATS slump.

General manager Jon Robinson was fired on Tuesday in the wake of the team’s recent struggles. The move came as a surprise to many, given that Tennessee has made the playoffs every year since 2019 and was on a 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS run prior to the two losses. But perhaps seeing former Titan A.J. Brown go off for 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia’s blowout win over Tennessee was the final straw for owner Amy Adams Strunk.

Jaguars: Keys to Win

Jacksonville has produced 17 points or less in five of its last eight games and is 0-5 SU and ATS in those five games. The Jaguars will need to execute better on offense if they hope to cover the spread or pull off an upset as a Jaguars vs Titans prediction on Sunday.

Titans: Keys to Win

Derrick Henry has been limited to only 52 rushing yards per game over Tennessee’s last four games. To break out of the recent offensive slump and to win as a Jaguars vs Titans pick at home, Tennessee will need to do a better job of Sportsbook up lanes and establishing the run in this matchup.
